New Year, New Features
It's a new year and that brings new things! We now have full controller support through all the menus and gameplay. In addition to that big change we also have completely changed how ships look and are created. The part system is one of the core systems to the game and has a massive impact on the performance/handling of the ships in game. We wanted to visually represent the parts instead of them only showing up through UI and the effects they have on gameplay.
Now when a player(or the AI) makes an upgrade to their ship, the ship itself changes. If you change the engines post race, you'll notice your ship's engine will change visually in addition to statistically. The only non changing part is the cockpit, which now carries the overall stat modifiers for a vehicle. At the start of a run your starting ship selection determines the cockpit, stat bonuses, and provides you with a base set of parts. The AI follows the same set of rules but start with a randomly generated ship that is created for each run.
Looking towards the future, we want to expand on this centerstone feature. Adding a garage that allows you to further customize the ships and see the visual changes in realtime. Also, we continue to add other smaller features and polish existing content. With functionality established to most of the core game systems. More and more attention is being placed on gameplay balance and overall visuals/sounds. Stay tuned for more news and updates coming soon!
